More than a year ago I posted a very cool song from Zoo Kid.
Now he's back but with a new identity: King Krule...and I realized he sounds a bit like Vondelpark...That's why I like this song probably :)

Blur are back: is it 2012 or 1995?
Once my brother came back from a study trip in England with a cassette.
It was 1995. He was 16, I was 9. It was "Parklife" and right after "The great escape" came.
Hard not to find that old sound in the new single from Blur.
Welcome back!

Dauwd
Mandag morgen, vi brug for noget ny god musik.
I've probably already mentioned the NewNoise podcast that I constantly check, in order to get some new music inspiration. Well, listening to this week edition, I stumbled upon a new amazing sound.
Dauwd. The EP is to be released soon, but some blowing mind tracks are on streaming.
Pure love.

I grew up bread and britpop
Blur is my brother's favourite band.
In 1995, he found out about the Great Escape, and so did I. I was 9.
I am not in love with Blur as my brother is, but I like them. There are some pearls in their repertoire.
Like this one.
And then, well, Damon...:)

Holy Other
Deadly tired after work, longing for a fresh beer to wash away the gloomy mood i've developed during the whole week.
I listented to yesterday night interview to Vondelpark on BBC radio 6. Among other good stuff I found a band i didn't know Holy Other.
This song got me since the first listening.
Well, maybe it doesn't really help with the doomy mood, but I like being cuddled by its melancholia.

Discovering....England rulez...again.
Among the bands i saw at the transmusicals festival two of them catch my attention.
They are both pretty young bands and, not surprisingly, they come from England.
Manchester and London.
First Egyptian Hip Hop. What a horrible name!
When i read their name on the programme i thought "No way!" and i discarded them without even reading the description under the picture.
But i was wrong. Not a hint of hip hop there, but some 80's beats and atmospheres.
Funny, they are barely 18 so they weren't even there in the 80's.
I even took a picture in the media professional area.
I regret a thing, I should have told them to change their name. That hip hop it's really disturbing :)
Here's a taste.
Second, Is Tropical.
They weren't really a surprise as i knew them already. They signed with kitsuné now.
Three lovely guys from London, with such a fascinating accent. Uf.
I interviewed them, sort to say....as finally we just had a nice chat. But i'm going to post it soon anyway.
One again, after such a good weekend, and after smelling such a rocking scent, getting back to Nantes is f***** hard and frustrating.

Rome-London one-way
At work.
Nights are getting longer and I love getting out of the hangar wih the sunset on the Loire.
A couple of months ago I posted the video of a song called dragon's fly. I liked at the first listen, but i don't know why i didn't dig into that italian guy called Porcelain Raft.
He left Rome to move to London and he started making music. Such good music.
So, basically, for this first week of November, my soundtrack is Porcelain Raft's album. The single tip of your tongue isout the 8th.
Here's...a tip

English tendences
I'd love to be in London.
Lots of great events are coming soon, such as
Lovebox, which is actually right now, and the Field Day the 31st of July.
I'd really love to go to the second one in Victoria park to see Moderat (missed the ElectroVenice last week, damn it!) Memory Tapes, Phoenix, Caribou, Gold Panda, Panta du Prince...and some others.
The song of today is not from one of those bands above. But they are English and I found out of them, once again, thanks to the Pure Groove's newsletter.
Mesdames and Messieurs,
Victoria & Jakob
(The intro sounds like a mix between The Notwist and Passion Pit, then the riff sounds a bit mainstream, but if you feel like enjoying it without being too picky, it sounds ok)

New Era Foals
Here's the new from the Foals. Quite different from the catchy and easy listening reprise "Wish you’ve gonna, wish you’ve gone away" of last album single Cassius huh?
But that's the peculiarity of real artists that never repeat themselves and always move further in different directions.
Good job.

Hej hej London

I said goodbye to the crawling London to come back to my snowy host country.
By the way, i couldn't come back without a piece of England: a small little block of pages i bought for 8 quid in BrickLane, in a sunny sunday afternoon as an Eastender.
The new book of Nick Hornby. The title is Juliet, Naked. It deals with music and love, and, actually, i can't ask better of a book, so...here i am, immerse in that England i met in another Hornby's work High Fidelity (one of my cult books) the first time. The same England that, after shaping in my mind, i got now to know first-hand. The England of the gigs, of people living with and for music. By eradicating ithe book from its own natural environment i stole it and I brought it some thousands km up north, where it still snows.
A book to reminds you some of the English scent, just in case you forget how it sounds like while away from it.
